What is required to add a new operator ?

Updated today

If you experience issues using your NAVIT Card with an operator that should clearly be enabled, you can simply contact us in order to add this operator. There is a few things to check first before contacting us:

  1. Please make sure its a mobility only operator, since we can only add mobility operators to our system.

  2. Please try to use the operator first before contacting us, because either way there has to be an attempt of a transaction otherwise we can not add the operator.

However it can still happen that an operator which is clearly a mobility operator for you will be declined from us. There is multiple reasons to why something like that could happen:

  1. The Operator name that reaches our bank is completely different from the Operator you wanted to add.

  2. The VISA Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) is not applicable to any mobility oriented operator codes.

Whether we can enable an operator depends heavily on whether it fits into the Visa Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) that we have defined for the Mobility Card.

For example, a hotel falls under “Accommodation Services” — which is clearly not mobility. Our card is technically and legally restricted. It may only be used for mobility services. Allowing hotels would violate this restriction and could have tax implications.

This is also the reason why we use a whitelist. Every operator we enable must:

  1. Fit into the mobility-related MCCs (public transport, car sharing, bike sharing, scooter sharing, ride-hailing, etc.)

  2. Be legally and tax compliant

  3. Be accepted by the payment provider (Adyen)

If an operator is not on the list but you would like to use it, just let us know. We will review it and check whether and how we can add it.

It could also happen that an operator who worked perfectly fine yesterday does not work any more. A reason for that could be that the operator changed his operator name and MCC which happens regularly. In case that happens just contact us and let us know and we will update our system.
